Cabin crew  has a very important job within modern airlines and in the US, federal law states that there must be cabin crew to look after the welfare of passengers. Air hostess jobs are much more than just serving food and drinks to the passengers however. Those with an air hostess job will be expected to help evacuate the plane in the event of an emergency, provide the pre-flight health and safety briefing, assist passengers to their seat and with their hand luggage, complete reports once the journey has finished and do any other work that may be necessary during the flight such as first aid.

Air hostess jobs come with very changeable hours and it is not uncommon for an air hostess to have to spend anywhere from 65-90 hours in the air per month as well as another 50 hours of pre and post flight work. Air hostess jobs will get paid overtime on anything over the contracted time of work. Lengths of shifts can change dramatically as some flights can last only a few hours whilst others can last for upwards of 15 hours. The length of flights may well depend on which airline the air hostess works for.

Those with air hostess jobs will also have to undergo various extra training to be able to deal with medical emergencies, unruly passengers or even terrorism. Air hostess jobs are definitely not for everyone as they can be very hard work for long hours and you will often have to work weekends and evenings but those who do successfully hold down an air hostess job can expect to see the world and work with lots of varied people.

Qualifications for Cabin Crew jobs
There are often no formal qualifications required for air hostess jobs apart from good GCSE’s in English and maths etc. A levels or a degree will certainly help your cause to get an air hostess job but as all training is provided, there is no firm entry requirements. A friendly personality and smart appearance are essential however. The average salary for air hostess jobs will be between USD 13k and USD 16k pa.
