Job Description:

Primary Purpose:

To conduct comprehensive audits of an airline’s flight operations, ensuring compliance with IOSA standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to enhance operational safety and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Audit Planning and Preparation:

    • Review and understand the scope and objectives of the flight safety audit in line with IOSA standards.
    • Prepare detailed audit plans, checklists, and schedules.
    • Study relevant documentation, including flight operations manuals, safety management systems (SMS), and regulatory requirements.
  2. Conducting Audits:

    • Evaluate flight operations processes, including flight planning, dispatch, flight crew training, and in-flight procedures.
    • Assess compliance with IOSA standards in areas such as:
      • Flight and Duty Time Limitations
      • Flight Deck Operations
      • Crew Resource Management (CRM)
      • Operational Control and Flight Dispatch
      • Aircraft Performance and Weight & Balance Calculations
    • Conduct interviews with flight crew, dispatchers, and operations personnel.
    • Observe flight operations, including simulator sessions, if necessary.
  3. Safety and Compliance Assessment:

    • Verify the implementation and effectiveness of the airline's Safety Management System (SMS).
    • Ensure compliance with ICAO standards, national aviation regulations, and IATA best practices.
    • Identify non-conformities and potential safety risks.
  4. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Document findings, observations, and evidence in a clear and concise manner.
    • Prepare detailed audit reports, including non-conformities, observations, and recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Present audit findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  5. Follow-up and Continuous Improvement:

    • Monitor and verify the implementation of corrective actions.
    • Provide guidance and support to airline personnel to improve compliance and safety practices.
    • Identify areas for continuous improvement in flight safety operations.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Stay up-to-date with IOSA standards, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
    • Attend relevant training programs and workshops.
    • Share knowledge and best practices with the audit team and the airline's flight safety personnel.

Job Requirements:

1. Educational Background

  • A university degree or equivalent professional qualifications in aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant work experience can sometimes compensate for the lack of formal education.

2. Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in the aviation industry. This experience should be relevant to the operational areas covered by IOSA, such as:
    • Flight Operations
    • Dispatch
    • Cabin Operations
    • Ground Handling
    • Cargo Operations
    • Organization and Management Systems

3. Technical Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge of aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ICAO Annexes, IATA standards, national aviation regulations).
  • Experience in safety management systems (SMS) is highly advantageous.

4. Auditing Experience

  • Previous auditing experience is preferred but not mandatory. However, candidates without prior auditing experience must complete IATA's auditor training programs.

5. Training and Certification

  • Successful completion of IATA's IOSA Auditor Training Course, which covers the IOSA program, audit methodology, and industry best practices.
  • Additional training may be required depending on the specific operational area of focus.

6. Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an audit team.

7. Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively for audit assignments.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in other languages
